From Nadia Sirota at Q2: “Chamber Music, Smoked Fish”

Trout Week on WQXR Means Lots of Chamber Music for Q2!

Monday, April 04, 2011

WQXR has dubbed April 2-8 Trout Week! Every day they will feature live chamber music concerts from the Greene Space. Seeing as chamber music is such great stuff, and Trout Week features some of Q2’s favorite groups (JACK quartet! ETHEL! Janus!), we are taking our cue from WQXR and featuring some fabulous chamber music performances this week on the show.

Also! Q2 producer Yuki Numata has just violin-ed her socks off with new music band Alarm Will Sound in Berlin and taken her video camera with her. You can check out some great behind-the-scenes videos on our newly launched Qtube page. Ergooooooo, we’ll have some great Alarm Will Sound season highlights thrown around for good measure this week as well.

I love love the intimacy of a concert of chamber music. As a performer, I can really communicate with my fellow players in one of the most intimate and spontaneous contexts, and as an audience member, I feel like I am right there, feeling what the players are experiencing. Nuances feel more personal, somehow.”
