“There is something undeniably special about the musical community in New York.

For many many years, it has been the crossroads for musicians and composers from all walks of life, and today, perhaps more than ever, it is still serves a place where meaningful inspiration and collaboration exists.

This week on Q2 with Terrance McKnight, we take a look at a few creative spirits who have sought refuge and found inspiration in this great city of ours. We’ll hear music from Judd Greenstein, a young composer who grew up in Greenwich Village, German-born Lukas Foss made his home in New York City until his death one year ago, Downtown accordion master Guy Klucevsek, and of course the great Duke Ellington who spent much of his creative life in the city, and many more!

As we reflect on these great talents, it’s important to ask, what is it about this wonderful, crazy community of ours that impels such great music?” So asks Terrance.
