Howard Mandel’s “Jazz Beyond Jazz”

Howard Mandel’s “Jazz Beyond Jazz

If you are a Jazz listener, aficionado, lover, whatever, and you are not reading Howard Mandel, you are missing out on one of the best minds in Jazz criticism today.

Howard’s posts to Jazz Beyond Jazz are deep, penetrating, thorough.

Here is a link to the extensive Archives to be found at Jazz Beyond Jazz.

I first met up with Howard when we both trashed Terry Teachout’s article in the Wall Street Journal about the alleged death of Jazz. My Next encounter with Howard was when he appeared on WNYC’s Soundcheck, hosted by John Schaefer for the Soundcheck Smackdown on Jazz Fusion. A certain musician whose artistry I adore called in to the show and made a complete ass of himself, with defamatory remarks aimed at Howard. What did Mr. T say? “Pity the fool.”

I have put in all of the links you possibly need. Check up on Howard.
