“…From start to ‘Finnish’ on Tuesday, June 8, 2010, Q2 gives the internet airwaves over to Finland. 24-Hour Finn is the first in a series of continuous, day-long spotlights of different facets of today’s diverse and thriving New Music scene. Nadia Sirota, who just returned from touring in Iceland and Europe, hosts 24-Hour Finn.
Finland’s independence was deeply tied to pivotal musical figures like Jean Sibelius, so it comes as no surprise that, as a people, the Finns are deeply invested in their culture and music. 24-Hour Finn highlights music from a colorful spectrum of three generations of Finnish composers, including those already in the pantheon and those still making a name for themselves at school.
