The Undead Jazz Festival – Terry Teachout’s Comeuppance

News today in the Wall Street Journal , of the Undead Jazz Festival in New York City (article by Steve Dollar) is the latest and best rejoinder to Terry Teachout’s Wall Street Journal article “Can Jazz Be Saved?” in August 2009.

Mr. Teachout enraged Jazz aficionados from at least New York City and Philadelphia, where vibrant Jazz is happening. He had several blogger critics responding. He was even vilified in the Latin Jazz group at MyYahoo.

I do not want to repeat the content of today’s article or Mr. Teachout’s article here. Just follow the links.

I do think that it is most fitting that the Festival is happening in Mr. Teachout’s town, and that the article is in his own newspaper.
