The New York Philharmonic roars into the weekend with the next in Music Director Alan Gilbert and Composer-in-Residence Magnus Lindberg’s refreshing series, CONTACT!, devoted to New Music, world premiere performances, intimate venues and young, emerging composers. In two concerts this Friday and Saturday, held at the Metropolitan Museum and Symphony Space, respectively, Alan Gilbert leads a New Music squad in premiere performances from James Matheson, Julian Anderson and Jay Alan Yim.

There will be three exclusive Web casts of CONTACT! on Q2 on the following dates and times:

* Thursday, December 23 at 8 p.m.
* Saturday, December 25 at 8 p.m.
* Tuesday, December 28 at 4 p.m.

To begin the countdown to these Web casts, Q2 is thrilled to announce a bevy of multimedia features and exciting composer insights.

First, tune in for a special Cued Up on Q2 this Sunday at 2 p.m. devoted to last season’s inaugural CONTACT!, hosted by composer Nico Muhly, whose Detailed Instructions was given its world premiere in April’s CONTACT! concert. Another of that series’s commissionees, Sean Shepherd, has also agreed to write a reaction to this season’s installment.
