From All About Jazz: Eliane Elias

All About Jazz has a piece today about the wonderful Brazilian Jazz pianist Eliane Elias.

I first became aware of Ms Elias when I saw the movie Calle 54 about Latin Jazz.

If you are a Jazz fan, especially a Latin Jazz* fan, read about Eliane Elias here.
And, if you have never seen Calle 54, by all means, find a copy (Netflix, Amazon).

*”In comparison with traditional jazz, Latin jazz employs straight rhythm, rather than swung rhythm. Latin jazz rarely employs a backbeat, using a form of the clave instead. The conga, timbale, güiro, and claves are percussion instruments which often contribute to a “Latin” sound.” So, Wikipedia
