Coming to Caramoor on October 20th, jazz double threat Camille Thurman released Waiting for the Sunrise last Friday featuring a selection of personal songs from inside and out the jazz world. She sat down with NPR’s All Things Considered to show off her live scatting skills, share how she came to receive her first tenor saxophone, and reflect what it means to challenge the idea that women can only be one or the other: vocalist or talented instrumentalist.

You can also watch her describe the genesis of her sophomore album, how she came to bring together her band members, and the experience of recording in a unique location all in one day.
